A SENIOR metallurgist at FQM Trident Limited has found himself in a sticky situation with the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) after being accused of corruption.

Steven Muzipo, a resident of Kalumbila, is facing corruption charges after allegedly demanding and receiving a significant sum of money in exchange for awarding purchase orders to a specific supplier.

According to the ACC, Muzipo solicited a bribe of USD$10,100 from Tumelo Africa Zambia Limited to ensure they were awarded contracts to supply A10 Flocculant to FQM Trident.

The alleged bribe was paid in installments over several months.

“Details are that Mr Muzipo on dates unknown, but between first March 2024 and 14th September 2024, in Kalumbila District, North-Western Province, Zambia, in his capacity as Senior Metallurgist Flotation at FQM Trident Limited, did solicit for USD$10,100 and actually received USD$2,000 as a reward for facilitating the award of purchase orders to Tumelo Africa Zambia Limited for the supply of A10 Flocculant to FQM Trident Limited, a private body,” ACC head of corporate communications Timothy Moono shared.

Moono said Muzipo, a key figure in the company’s operations, has been released on bail after being charged with one count of Corrupt Transactions with Private Bodies contrary to Section 20 (1) of the Anti-Corruption Act No. 3 of 2012 of the Laws of Zambia.

He said the suspect is awaiting trial.
