A night of enjoyment turned into a blood-soaked brawl for Zambia Association of Musicians president Davidson Musanda and a UPND official, courtesy of an angry female police officer at Mazabuka’s Friday’s Corner.

The evening’s tranquility was shattered around 20:00 hours, as Constable Mervis Zulu of Mazabuka Police Station unleashed a frenzy of fists, leaving Musanda’s face a gruesome canvas of blood and bruises.

The one-sided battle was a blur of chaos, with Musanda’s feeble punches no match for Zulu’s relentless onslaught.

Witnesses watched in horror as the 38-year-old musician’s eyes, nose, and lips became a bloody mess, his face disfigured beyond recognition.

Just when everyone thought the night’s sweet melodies couldn’t turn any violent, the female cop turned her wrath on another gentleman, Bright Hamweenda, the Mazabuka District Youth chairman as Musanda wailed his way to the police station.

After the beating, Hamweenda also ran to the police to complain that Constable Mervis had damaged the right side view mirror of his vehicle, a red Mistubish Garant with registration number DBA 9475 valued at K3,500.

But before police could even start investigating the alleged offence, the 24-year-old officer also arrived to file an assault case of her own, against Hamweenda.

She alleged that she sustained chest pains and general body pains saying she also received some punches.

Southern Province police Commanding Officer, Auxensio Daka confirmed the incident.

“Investigations have been instituted and whoever will be found wanting will be charged accordingly and prosecuted,” said Daka.
