FIRST Lady Mutinta Hichilema has sponsored 20 school-going girls at DaGama School for Children with Physical Disabilities in Luanshya and at Chileshe Chepela Special School in Kasama to aid their education.

On her Facebook page, the First Lady stated that the sponsorship was made possible with the help and support of the Merck Foundation.

She mentioned that the initiative is aimed at supporting the government’s free education policy and assisting vulnerable learners in boarding schools.

“We are delighted to sponsor 20 girls on their secondary education journey. With this aid, the learners will be able to pay boarding fees, purchase school uniforms, groceries, and other essential items for school,” said Hichilema.

She added that the pupils will now have the opportunity to complete their secondary education.

“A heartfelt thank you to the Merck Foundation for also providing scholarships for 23 tertiary students in various universities and colleges,” said Hichilema.
