THE life of a 22 year old Mwinilunga house wife has been cut short after being axed to death by her enraged husband over attending prayer sessions.
According to reports, the deceased, Juliet Kang’asa sought prayers after seeing dry bones planted in her house with no trace of where they came from.
Kang’asa’s spiritual antennas immediately went off after seeing the bones of an unidentified animal in her kitchen while preparing supper around 21:00 hours last Saturday.
While involuntarily screaming blood of Jesus! at the bizzare sight of the dry bones, Kang’asa attracted the attention of her 29 years old husband, Solomon Kapanga who rushed to the kitchen to investigate the happenings.
After failing to identify the seemingly strange bones, the couple resolved to visit a local prophet the following day in Nyaluhana village for prayers as they believed the bones were intentionally planted to bewitch the family.
The following day between 05:00 hours and 06:00 hours on June 9, 2024, Solomon Kapanga rudely had a change of mind over visiting the prophet as earlier agreed and ordered his wife to equally forget about going anywhere.
However, a spiritually uncomfortable Kang’asa continually insisted that they visit the prophet, angering her husband who reacted by grabbing an axe and allegedly butchered her.
ZANIS reports that outgoing Northwestern province police commanding officer Dennis Moola has confirmed the murder and identified the suspect as Solomon Kapanga 29.
Mooola said upon knowing what transpired, members of the community pounced on Kapanga and the matter was reported to the police by the deceased sister.
He said officers who rushed to the scene found the deceased lying in a pool of her own blood.
“Upon physical inspection of the body it was discovered with a deep cut on the head, and on her right side of her face,” he said.
“The suspect was already apprehended by the members of the community and handed over to the police upon arrival at the scene.”
Moola revealed that the body was deposited at Mwinilunga district hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem, while the suspect is in police custody.
