PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has emphasised the need for effective delivery in the Justice Ministry, urging newly sworn-in Justice Minister Princess Kasune to excel in her role.
“Nothing should stand in the way of delivery. The minister is female, the two PS’s are female, you shall have no reason to blame men,” Hichilema stated during the swearing-in ceremony this morning at State House.
President Hichilema called for significant improvements in the justice system, highlighting the importance of providing adequate access to legal services for marginalized communities.
He reiterated the ministry’s responsibility in protecting human rights, upholding the rule of law, and ensuring justice for all citizens.
“I expect you to do your best. There should be no reason for failure. PS’s, please support her. Don’t hang around—work, work as a team,” President Hichilema said.
He stressed the importance of teamwork and dedication within the ministry, urging the two female Permanent Secretaries to support Kasune to achieve meaningful change.
Kasune was appointment Justice minister last week to become the first female to hold the position in the country’s history.
In her address, Kasune pledged to address the challenges faced by citizens, particularly the marginalised, and to work towards a fair, equitable, and accessible justice system.
She thanked the President for the opportunity to serve.
