A ZAMBIAN neurosurgeon from the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) has been selected to represent the nation at the inaugural Prof. Sean Tierney Training Fellowship Grant this year.

This prestigious fellowship will involve doctors from the East, Central, and Southern African regions.

The grant, funded by the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI), aims to enhance surgical skills and knowledge, advancing surgical science and practice.

The Zambian representative, a Mukuba Boys High School alumnus, will use the fellowship to specialize in Endovascular Neurosurgery, bringing valuable expertise to the country’s medical field.

Named in memory of Prof. Sean Tierney, the grant honors his significant contributions to the collaboration between the College of Surgeons of East, Central and Southern Africa (COSECSA) and RCSI.
