CAN you imagine grilling for 140 hours straight? No sleep, just endless barbeque? That’s exactly what 32-year-old chef Matildah Chipuma is attempting to do right now!
Chipuma, a resident of Kabwe and a pro at the Urban Bliss Hotel, is on a mission to break the Guinness World Record for the longest BBQ marathon.
For the past five days, she’s been grilling nonstop, with hopes of setting a new record of 140 hours – that’s six full days of grilling!
This isn’t just a random feat – Chipuma has been dreaming of this for years.
“So the inspiration for me to break the record started when I was still in college and I have been wanting to break it for a long time.”
“I started writing to the Guinness world record three years ago and I was not picked, this did not stop me I kept on trying until I was picked this year,” Chipuma told Kalemba.
Now Chipuma’s resellience and determination is paying off.
And guess what? She’s already surpassed the previous record!
The current title holder,Jan Greeff who is based in the US, only managed to grill for 80 hours.
Chipuma has been setting the bar high, and with the finish line just a day away, she’s an inspiration to everyone watching.
This activity had been streaming live on some Facebook pages such as Central Video TV and Lucky’s Comedy pages.
“The support I have been having from day one from Lucky’s comedy who is the CEO of Timeline studios is the best, his team are a blessing to me as they push me day and night no sleep just to make sure that I reach my goal,” she revealed.
Chipuma is hoping to attract even more sponsors as she enters the final stretch of this grueling marathon.
But one thing’s for sure – Chef Matildah Chipuma is already a winner. She’s pushing her limits, defying expectations, and grilling her way into the history books, all while becoming the first Zambian to ever attempt this record.
