THE Higher Education Loans and Scholarships Board (HLSB) has successfully recovered K17 million from former student beneficiaries as of May 31, 2024.
Board chief executive officer John Machayi announced that these recoveries come from 17,500 of the 40,000 students who benefited from the loan Programme.
“As of May 31, 2024, we have recovered K17 million, bringing the cumulative total of recovered loans to K576 million,” disclosed Machayi.
Machayi emphasised the significance of loan recovery as a means to ensure the sustainability of the loan programme.
“For us, loan recovery is very important. It’s crucial that we have clear messaging to all stakeholders to ensure that we experience increased loan recoveries,” he stated.
The HLSB’s efforts in loan recovery represent a renewed hope for the continuity and expansion of student loans thereby facilitating higher education for more students in the future.
