EMMANUEL JJ Banda has thanked Zambians and urged them to continue praying for him.
The Petauke Central independent member of parliament was reportedly abducted in the early hours of Saturday but resurfaced two days later.
He has been admitted to Maina Soko Military Hospital since.
In the wake of Banda’s disappearance, PF members and their allies suggested government was behind the mysterious disappearance.
Mfuwe Constituemcy PF member of parliament Maureen Mabonga even said Banda’s disappearance was tribal and that she was ready to fight a enthnic war as her tribe mates far outnumbered police.
On being found, the opposition has protested that Banda should not be admitted to a military hospital.
However, despite all the drama, Banda assured the nation that he is doing better as the doctors are taking good care of him.
“All I can just say; is thank you for the prayers, and please continue praying for me am doing okay the doctors are taking care of me,” Banda told journalists after some government officials visited him yesterday.
And Maina Soko Medical Centre Commandant, Brigadier General Levy Muchemwa said Banda had shown some progressive change in his health as he is now able to talk and move on his own.
He said other than the notable bruises, they were no other serious injuries.
“He appeared dehydrated, his vital signs were all normal and we did some tests, a full blood count including the CT scans which were all okay what we want to do now is to ask the psychiatrists to do an evaluation knowing what the honorable went through. We need to address the post traumatic disorder,” said Brig Gen Muchemwa.
Meanwhile, Ministry of Information and Media Permanent secretary, Thabo kawana urged politicians, friends and relatives to desist from giving false statements on Banda’s condition.
Kawana urged the nation to give Banda and his family some privacy during this period.
“The Authorities here have been extremely professional, they have allowed visitors to come and see him. You are aware that three royal highnesses and the Human rights Commission were here to check for themselves. Even the three wives of the honorable member have been around through out from the time of his admission up to now.
Kawana added that there had never been a single time that Banda was left alone in the hospital, showing that there is no harm that is meant on him as government wishes him a quick recovery.
And Home Affairs Permanent Secretary, Dickson Matembo who also part of the visit said it is great to note that the health condition of the Petauke Law Maker is the exact opposite of what is being portrayed from the outside.
“And we want to call on politicians who want to abuse the situation to misinform the public hoping that they would gain some political mileage out of it and it is our request that this is a private matter that should only be looked at by the family,” said Matembo.
