THE United Party for National Development (UPND) secretary general Batuke Imenda says Government is aware of the agenda by opposition politicians to cause chaos so they can be deliberately arrested.

Imenda stated that opposition leaders are desperate for power hence the issuance of tribal remarks every day.

The sentiments from the UPND leader came after the country witnessed some members of parliament, tried to instigate tribal wars following the disappearance of fellow MP, Emmanuel Jay Jay Banda at the weekend.

Imenda alleged that the opposition is on a malicious mission to get the rulling party to respond with tribal remarks so they can ride on it.

He affirmed that Government will not be provoked to advocate for the arrest of such politicians but will allow the police to operate independently.

Imenda said Government believes in unity and will not condone politicians who want to divide the country.

“When we say one Zambia one nation, what comes to our mind is peace, tranquility to hold our country together, not in the manner the so-called opposition leaders who are thriving to become leaders of this country are coming out with dangerous statements,” said Imenda.

“We want to assure you that we are a civil Government. Our President recognises constructive criticism. We want to advise those with dangerous statements to have the interest of this country.”
