GOVERNMENT has confirmed that the concessionaire responsible for the Lusaka-Ndola dual carriageway project will shoulder all maintenance costs.
Infrastructure and Urban Development Minister Charles Milupi revealed this during the Sunday Interview on ZNBC.
The construction of the project is being funded through a public-private partnership (PPP) model where NAPSA and the Workers Compensation Fund Control Board have partnered with Macro Ocean, the concessionaire, to fund the project.
Milupi emphasised a contractual clause requiring the concessionaire to rehabilitate the road and infrastructure at least two years before the agreement’s expiration.
“These companies possess the necessary expertise to enhance the construction quality,” said Milupi.
He added that the project is expected to generate numerous jobs and benefit businesses through the supply of goods and services.
Milupi emphasised Government’s assurance that all maintenance costs will be borne by the concessionaire.
“NAPSA and the Workers Compensation Control Board are integral funders of the consortium,” he noted.
“We have secured an agreement ensuring that all maintenance responsibilities fall to the concessionaire.”
