A COP is about to dance to the music by his superiors for tarnishing the image of the Zambia Police Service after he abused alcohol which returned the favour.
However the favour was more than what he could handle – the officer whose name has been withheld fell like a bag of maize into a drainage after drinking to stupor.
Unlike the drunken master in the famous Chinese movie, he could barely stand while in possession of a firearm which he hugged romantically.
Every time the officer attempted to stand, he became a living meme for bystanders who were given a free comedy show amidst the stress of a bustling day.
Some helped him up and out of the trash filled drainage while others utilised the phones to capture the moment and a video of the incident started to make rounds online leaving the Zambia Police Service with more than a red face.
“The Zambia Police Service is aware of a viral video showing a police officer in a state of intoxication in a drainage. We take this matter seriously and have swiftly identified the officer involved,” Police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said.
“Disciplinary proceedings have been initiated against him.”
The police assured the public that appropriate measures are being taken to address this misconduct.
Hamoonga said the outcome of the disciplinary action will be communicated once it has been concluded.
“The Zambia Police Service remains committed to upholding professionalism and integrity within our ranks, and we will not tolerate any behavior that undermines the trust and confidence of the public,” added Hamoonga.
