THE Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has launched an Online Anonymous Whistleblower System (OAWS) to facilitate confidentiality of whistleblowers against corruption.
Justice minister Mulambo Haimbe said this is aimed at enhancing the fight against corruption.
Officiating at the launch, Haimbe stated that the system is specifically developed to cure the challenge that many whistle blowers worldwide face.
“This is critical and Government recognizes that most whistle blowers shun to blow the whistle for fear of reprisal and victimisation at work or or once identified by superior,” he said.
“By ensuring that reports are made in confidence or anonymously. Hence the launch of this online anonymous whistleblowers system.”
ACC vice board chairperson, Ireen Lamba revealed that commission remains committed to fighting corruption.
Lamba shared that the system is secure such that not even an officer from the ACC will be able to know who has reported a matter through the system.
“This online platform protects the identity of whistle blowers in line with international standards of practice,” disclosed Lamba.
“Through this system, whistle blowers’ remain unindentified and no one from ACC be able to know who has reported.
