A MOTHER in Lusaka Mtendere Compound has had her heart broken into pieces after witnessing her son’s lifeless body hanging from her bedroom roof yesterday afternoon.
An hour before the tragedy, 21-year-old Emmanuel Mvula, a third year student at Evelyn Hone college, with only a few months from donning his graduation gown went to sleep and told the mother to wake him up around 13:00 hours because he had a class at 14:00 hours.
Unknown to her, that was going to be her son’s final and forever slumber.
As promised, Emmanuel’s mother, at exactly 13:00 hours was at his bedroom door, knocking to wake him up, after getting no response, she decided to enter his room, but to her surprise, her sleeping son was not only awake, but also missing from his room.
Knowing he couldn’t be far, she decided to check her bedroom where she found the door was locked from the inside.
She forcibly opened the door and what her eyes saw could only be expressed with tears and shouts for help.
Her beloved son allegedly used a sculf to hang himself from one of the roof poles, ending his life without any reason given.
Police Deputy Public Relations officer, Danny Mwale who confirmed the incident said that police were immediately alerted and visited the scene.
Mwale said the body was currently at the University Teaching Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem and burial.
Meanwhile Police have opened an inquiry file into the matter.
