Police formerly arrest Nakacinda, releases him on bond

POLICE have formerly arrested PF faction leader Raphael Nakacinda for allegedly making false allegations against the Electoral Commission of Zambia.

Nakacinda who was then the PF publicity secretary alleged provided misleading information to the public on November 4, 2022, falsely claiming that pre-marked ballots were dispatched to Lusangazi, Mkushi, and Mwense by-elections on that date.

Yesterday, police detained 45 year old politician at Woodlands Police Station for disobedience of statutory duties after he allegedly refused to comply with summons issued by ECZ over the allegations he made about the pre marked ballots papers for the by-elections in there three stated wards.

Today, Police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga confirmed that Nakacinda had been released in police bond.

“He (Nakacinda) has been released on police bond, and he is expected to appear in court soon to answer to the charges,” added Hamoonga.

Hamoonga said the arrest and charging of Nakachinda was due to the violation of Section 18(1)(b) and (f) of the Electoral Commission of Zambia Act number 25 of 2016, as well as Section 126 of the Penal Code Act Chapter 87 of the laws of Zambia.
