The move follows recent network outages that disrupted services for many Airtel subscribers.

“This has been necessitated by the recent outages experienced on the Airtel network that affected its subscriber base,” ZICTA stated in a press release issued by its Corporate Communications Manager Hanford Chaabala.
The regulator cited violations of Section 67(1)(a) of the Information and Communications Technologies Act and the Quality of Service Guidelines.
Airtel has been ordered to implement an immediate action plan to address the recurring outages and strictly adhere to set timelines.
ZICTA warned of continued monitoring and the possibility of further action if compliance issues persist.
