AN 81-YEAR old grandfather of Chingola on the Copperbelt has died prematurely after engaging in a physical fight with a nephew he believed had stolen his bed linen last Friday.

The now late, Frank Ndalama, a respected landlord in his community, ventured out for a drink on Thursday evening around 17:00.

It wasn’t until 19:00 that he returned home, only to discover the unsettling absence of his beddings from his bedroom.

This discovery fueled a confrontation between him and his nephew, Charles Matanki.

Tensions escalated, voices were raised, and accusations of lacking manners were hurled.

As emotions surged, Ndalama made his way to the home of his tenants to request water which he used to baptise Matanki.

Pouring water on his nephew ignited a fiery anger in Matanki, and in a moment of rage, he seized Ndalama and forcibly pushed him.

The result was tragic. Ndalama, left grievously injured, was promptly rushed to a health center. However, despite efforts to save him, he was declared deceased.

Copperbelt commanding officer Peacewell Mweemba confirmed the incident.

The law enforcement agencies have since taken Matanki into custody as they diligently proceed with their investigations.
