In a bid to reconcile with his estranged wife, 27 year old man in Mufulira lost his cool and stabbed her in a fit of rage after he found strange numbers in her phone.
It is reported that Sandra Mutale aged 22 of Kamuchanga and her husband Milton Gondwe aged 27 of Section 7 of Kantanshi township in Mufulira were on separation.
However, on Thursday Gondwe called his wife in order to resolve their issues and patch things together around 17:00 hours.
When Mutale reached Gondwe’s house on that fateful day, he requested for her to enter the house and later grabbed her phone.
Gondwe then embarked on a voyage of discovery swiping up and down to check the phone like the American secret service agents who came with their Vice President Kamala Harris Last week and noticed some strange numbers.
Instead of wooing her further, due the long distant relationship they had developed, it is alleged that Gondwe’s romantic mood changed instantly to rage and he grabbed a knife which he used to stab his wife.
The piercing of the knife sent Mutale straight into instant pain as she whaled, attracting the neighbours’ ears who then came to her rescue.
Copperbelt commanding officer Peacewell Mweemba told ZANIS that after the suspect realised he had injured his wife, he tried to escape but was apprehended by members of the public who heard the victim screaming for help.
“The suspect was taken to Kantanshi Police Station where he is currently detained, while the victim is currently admitted at Ronald Ross General Hospital with her condition described as fair,” Mweemba told ZANIS.
