WITH the Easter long weekend around the corner and schools closing on Thursday, Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) has urged all road users to observe road safety rules and regulations.
This is because the agency expects an increase in the number of vehicles on the roads during the stated period and this poses a high risk to all road users if traffic rules and regulations are not adhered to.
In a statement issued by RSTA public relations, Motorists, including Public Service vehicle (PSV) drivers, have been advised to exercise maximum caution and drive within stipulated speed limits.
Furthermore, parents, guardians and school authorities have been urged to ensure their children use appropriate modes of transport.
“The RTSA and the Zambia Police Service Traffic Section are on high alert and on the ground to ensure motorists do not contravene the traffic rules and regulations even as we go into the Easter holiday,” the statement read.
The Agency is also calling on members of the public to be pro-active and make use of the RTSA National Call Centre by reporting bad, careless and dangerous drivers on the toll free line – 983 and the WhatsApp line 0965-429499.
