DEFENCE minister Ambrose Lufuma has called on candidates that applied for the defence force jobs to be patient as Government will give an update at appropriate time.
In an interview with #Kalemba, Lufuma said government will update the nation on the outcome of the applications made to the force in a suitable time as it avoids giving a false date.
Last October government embarked on a military recruitment exercise which saw over 200,000 candidates applying for the 5,000 military personnel jobs.
The recruitment will see the Zambia Army take up a bigger number of officers followed by Zambia National Service, while Zambia Air Force will have the smallest number.
However, since the applications, government is yet to update the nation on shortlisted candidates that applied last year.
And with seven months already passed, people’s patience has been stretched as they want an update as soon as possible.
“They (people) will be updated when we (Government) are ready to update them. In the meantime, they (should) wait,” said Lufuma.
Lufuma said his latest press release about the recruitment clearly stated that Government will update the nation “till further notice.”
“So when that further notice comes, we will update You.”
