TO EMPOWER the entertainment industry and tell the Zambian stories through local lenses, MultiChoice Zambia has continued to revive the film industry by adding local content for its programming.
MultiChoice has through channels like Zambezi Magic, OneZED helped over 20 Zambian production houses to produce local content, making it an avenue for employment in film and those outside film such as make up artiste, catering designers and events among others.
Today, MultiChoice Zambia held a media content showcase where it highlighted upcoming content on DStv and GOtv from Local and international storytellers.
The event held at Le Elementos Hotel in Lusaka started off on a chilly side because of the weather in the morning, making some guests in attendance wish they had carried their warm clothes.
While the director of programmes Amina Kaunda directed the proceedings as she invited guest speakers such as Diamond TVs Jonah Buyoya, Power TV chief executive officer Kenny Tonga, and Mutale Mwanza.
The content showcase was then concluded by the sweet melodies of Zambian song bird Wezi, who made the atmosphere more cozy.
MultiChoice Zambia operation manager Recha Kabwe spoke on behalf of managing director Leah Kooma stating the new year will see MultiChoice focus on local content on One Zed, Zambezi Magic and Honey TV.
Kabwe said the company believes that the key to unlocking Zambia’s immense potential lies in education and skills development which has led to the training of young talents in film.
“Through Multi choice Talent Factory our corporate social investment initiative, we have been able to work with the local creatives talents and provide them with a platform to develop their talent and hone their skills in film an local story telling,” said Kabwe.
