GOVERNMENT has called on parents, school administrators and the public to work with the police in safeguarding the lives of children life in the communities following an increase in the death of school going children.

In the past 11 days school going children were found dead after they went missing.

Chikondi Banda, a 10 year old boy was killed last week after he was kidnapped on his way home from school and Universal Kamushi, a girl aged 10 was found in pieces yesterday, in a decomposed state after she went missing for three days without returning from school.

And in another case an eight year old boy of Makeni East in Lusaka, shot dead his friend aged 11 while they were playing with the grandfather’s gun.

Following these cases Minister of Information and Media Chusi Kasanda expressed concern over the ordeal.

“The loss of young lives in such terrible circumstances is of grave concern to the Government,” Kasanda said.
Â
“It’s Government’s wish that children are safe both at home and in Public.”
Â
Kasanda reassured the public that the perpetrators of these barbaric act will be brought to book.
