An assistant director at the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) says former Minister of Agriculture Given Lubinda purchased a house from Kingsland City upon receiving money from a Chinese company.

Friday Tembo told the Economic and Financial Crimes Court that China Africa Cotton limited deposited over US$200, 000 in his account from China Africa Cotton which was disguised as a loan.

He said upon receiving the money Lubinda purchased a house at Kingsland City at US$50,000

Tembo told magistrate Ngobola that during warn and caution the accused remained tight lipped about the huge sums of money he received in his account to which he charged him for possessing property suspected to be proceeds of crime.

In this matter Lubinda is accused of illegally obtaining US$230,000 from China Africa Cotton limited and using part of the money to acquire land in Kingsland City.

Magistrate Ngobola adjourned the matter to April 24, for cross examination.
