VICE-PRESIDENT Mutale Nalumango, who is the acting Republican President, says men and women and boys and girls have to march together.
“This is what is going to help in the full development of human capital and even in other developmental areas,” Vice-President Nalumango when she officiated at this year’s International Women’s Day celebrations at Godfrey ‘Ucar’ Chitalu Stadium in Kabwe this afternoon.
This year’s International Women’s Day is themed: Digitall: Innovation and technology for gender equality.
She thanked Zambia’s cooperating partners, faith-based organisations and other stakeholders for their continued support in the country’s developmental efforts.
“Government cannot do it alone! I particularly thank you for your support in eliminating these issues of gender inequalities in Zambia,” said Vice-President Nalumango.
“I wish all the women of this country a happy International Women’s Day. God bless Zambia! God bless the women and God bless all of us!”
Others present at the colourful event are ministers Credo Nanjuwa (Central Province), Brenda Tambatamba (labour and social security), Douglas Syakalima (education), Elvis Nkandu (youth and sport), Reuben Mtolo Phiri (agriculture) and Elijah Muchima (lands and natural resources).
Others are deputy secretary to the Cabinet Dr Oliver Mubita Kalabo (administration), Cabinet Office’s gender division permanent secretary Mainga Dorcas Kabika and youth and sport permanent secretary Chama Fumba, among other senior government officials.
Zambia Army female officers and soldiers and female firefighters from the Kabwe Municipal Council fire brigade separately charmed the audience with various breathtaking drills.
Prior to Vice-President Nalumango’s speech, thousands of marchers from different political parties, government and private institutions waved at her, as she stood on the saluting dais for close to an hour.
