Criminals break into car, steal K1 million

CRIMINALS in Lusaka have absconded with a whooping K1 million after breaking into a vehicle which was parked at East Park Mall.
 
It is reported that Ken Phiri, 30, who is an employee of Yatu Equity Business Company, was left shell-shocked after discovering that his car had been tampered with, while the money he had withdrawn vanished.
 
According to lolice investigations, Phiri parked his Mark X at the mall on Monday afternoon, leaving the money in a laptop bag, when he went to a restaurant within the vicinity.
 
However, some unruly and crafty criminals who noticed that the car was unattended to, used their expertise, as street degree holders in ‘theft engineering’ and tempered with the vehicle’s door, using unidentified objects.
 
The perpetrators gained access of the car and stumbled upon the bag containing K1 million cash and fled the scene, within a blink of an eye.
 
When Phiri returned to the car, he found the laptop bag that contained the money gone.
 
Zambia Police deputy spokesperson Danny Mwale confirmed the incident to Kalemba today, in a statement.
 
He stated tha investigations into the matter have been instituted.
 
“Police in Lusaka recieved a report of theft from a motor vehicle in which unknown people broke into a Toyota Mark X and stole from therein money amounting to K1, 000,000,” stated Mwale.
 
“The incident occurred on March 6, 2023 around 14:30 hours at East Park Mall along the Great East road.”
