MAKESHIFT PF president Given Lubinda, along with acting secretary general Nickson Chilangwa, maybe headed to prison for disobeying a court ruling that ordered them to abandon their party positions illegally dished out to them by former president Edgar Lungu.

As Miles Sampa has continued to be a pebble in the shoes of the PF, with his latest victory being the High Court decision to allow him to institute contempt of court proceedings against acting party secretary general Chilangwa, Lubinda, Davies Chama and dreadlocked Raphael Nakacinda.

Early this month, the court restrained Chilangwa and Lubinda from masquerading as party secretary general and acting vice-president, respectively, as they were illegally appointed to their positions by Lungu.

The court had also prohibited the two from ejecting Sampa from the party, with the help of their agents, but the duo disregarded the court order.

Now, High Court judge Timothy Katanekwa has granted the Matero PF member of parliament to an ex-parte order for leave to apply for an order of committal for contempt of court, dated February 24, 2023, against Chilangwa, Lubinda, Nakacinda and Davies Chama to show cause why they should not be sent to prison for disobeying his orders.

Sampa, who intends to replace Lungu as the leader of the party at the extraordinary general conference, slated for March this year, has sued Chilangwa and Lubinda seeking an order of injunction preventing the duo from suspending him from the party, until the matter relating to his suspension is determined.

He wants the court to order the PF to quickly select its leaders by holding a general conference.
