PF Information and Publicity Chairperson Raphael Nakacinda says Edgar Lungu has been magnanimous enough to allow President Hakainde Hichilema to govern without any interference or disruption from any activity whether good or bad.
Nakacinda said Lungu has not been seen in public on many occasions but every time he comes out or says a sentence, “you will see how the UPND will be shivering and squiggling wherever they are.”
People around Lungu have confirmed to Kalemba that former president is plotting a come back to politics after being convinced that he is the only one who can beat President Hakainde Hichilema in the 2026 general elections.
Lungu wants to return to the PF presidency despite having resigned about a month after his massive defeat in 2021.
The source confided that lungu had finally succumbed to requests by his supporters that he returns to the helm of the PF. But speaking in an interview with #Kalemba, Nakacinda said there will always be narratives generated from those of the UPND who are afraid looking at their performance on whether they can win the next general election in 2026.
“The advice we are giving, let them (UPND) leave the former president away from their politics,” Nakacinda said.
He added that Lungu has not privately or publicly stated that he wanted to return to active politics.
“The only thing that the former president has said is that he will not abandon his party, he will provide guidance, and participate in the process of bringing an new set of leaders to which he will hand over at an appropriate time when all those process are concluded.” “People should just be patient and not jump the gun,” said Nakacinda.
He added that there could be people from the PF and the public who miss the leadership of Lungu and feel that he was the head of state could still make an attempt but that’s not the official position of the party or Lungu.
