GWEMBE town council chairperson Collet Ndlovu says the local authority is in the process of procuring eight pieces of earth-moving machinery, which it will use to work on feeder roads in the district.

“We are ready to start works on our feeder roads. The CDF for 2022 we didn’t do any project because we received submissions from the wards that we should work on our roads,” Ndlovu said when Rural Electrification Authority (REA) chief executive officer Linus Chanda paid a courtesy call on him at his office in Munyumbwe area on Monday.

“So, we are buying eight earth-moving equipment so that immediately after the rainy season, we will be to start working on our roads. This is how we will move this year!”

At the same event, Gwembe district commissioner Killion Chikandula said: “There is no road from Gwembe plateau where my office is up to here in Munyumbwe where the council offices are.”
“You can imagine a distance of 34 kilometres on a very bad road! That is preventing investors to come to Gwembe,” said Chikandula.
