THE Ministry of Finance and National Planning headquarters in Lusaka is under lock down as the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) and Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) have surrounded the premises.
13 directors in the Ministry have since been suspended.
An unofficial but well placed government sources have told Kalemba that President Hakainde Hichilema has fired accounting and audit staff at the Ministry of Finance and at the Auditor General’s Office.
The sources named those affected as Mr Chibwe Mulonda, controller (permanent secretary level) of internal audit, Mr Kennedy Musonda, accountant general, Clara Mazimba (deputy Auditor General) and Francis Mbewe (deputy Auditor General).
The President has also fired all directors of internal audit at the Ministry of Finance.
Those affected are Francis Ngwenya, Ms Barabina Mporokoso, Esther Mutengwa, Norah Sichilongo, Gregory Kabwe, Ms Jamie Nkuwa.
President Hichilema has since appointed Mrs Nsandi Manza to act as Accountant General and a Mr Sibale to act as controller of internal audit.
