Don’t Burn Bridges When You Switch Camps

Yesterday I bumped into this article instantly after the Bishop shared it and I identified with it and realised this knowledge had to be shared on a bigger platform Kalemba. Please enjoy the article and find time to follow his Facebook page. You will not regret following his page. Thank you for permitting me to share the article Bishop Bilon K. Kalumbinga.

In life, now and then, friendships modify. You forfeit some and you acquire new ones. Considerable times, this is not even your preference, it just transpires – it is inescapable. Occasionally, you just grow so far apart because of your values, your status or your social class has transformed.

The big issue is, when that transpires, no matter how thrilling the new friendship or coalition feels, never insult, talk ill, discredit or “spill the beans” on your old ‘left-behind friendships. It’s a small world, things and people change either for good or bad. What goes around comes around.

In politics, the notion of becoming enthusiastic about the new party one has joined and insulted the old ‘left-behind’ party has killed many politicians’ credibility. When you switch parties, don’t get over-excited and call your former party names and level all kinds of accusations at them. It’s a small world! Should you ever decide to go back, you will not be trusted and you will pan out losing both ways. Always remember not to insult the friendships you have left behind simply because you are so excited about the new ones. It is a small world and the truth is that one day you will need your former party in one way or another.

In Church life, it is identical. When you switch churches, don’t talk ill of your former Pastor. Don’t discredit your former church just because you are enthusiastic about the new one. Never claim you were no longer growing spiritually. It’s a small world. One day, you will be shocked to see your former Pastor, the one you disrespected after leaving his church, standing in front of you, preaching in your church, because your new “powerful” Pastor trusts and respects him so much! Be wise and mature, it’s a small world. Especially in this era of the “father-son” phenomenon. Your new “powerful” Pastor may end up becoming a son to the same discredited man of God, you left and called names. What would you do if this happened? Thus, when you switch churches, do so peacefully and alone. Don’t talk too much and don’t be the genesis of the breakaway. It’s a small world.

Before I leave you, I say this again, When you find New, Better and Exciting relationships, chill; don’t insult, discredit or disrespect where you are coming from. Don’t burn bridges, it’s a small world.

ENJOY YOUR DAY.
