Lighting strike leaves 2 Siavonga women without a husband

TWO women of Chisengele Village in Siavonga have been left widowed after lightning struck and killed the man they were both married to.
 
Evason Bulanketi aged 64 was relaxing under a tree with his four children after lunch on Friday afternoon when lightning struck killing all five of them.
 
All the deceased were buried on Monday.
 
Relatives, neighbours and friends turned up huge numbers to bid farewell and were joined by the Siavonga Town council chairperson.
 
The four Children identified as Moses Bulanketi aged 27, Hachimbala Bulanketi aged 15, Collins Bulanketi aged 10 and Ronald Bulanketi aged 8.
 
Bulanketi is survived by two wives.
 
Speaking during the funeral Service, at Dibbwi grave site, Council Secretary Choolwe Maunga said the local Authority is saddened by the death of the victims, all from the same family.
“We are grateful to every residents that has turned out to support the bereaving family in numbers. Therefore, the support should continue even after the burial” said Maunga.
And Siavonga Member of Parliament Darius Mulunda who was part of the mourners has thanked the Council, the District Commissioner’s office, the area Councilor and other stakeholders for their collaboration with his office in putting the deceased to rest in a dignified manner.
According to a statement issued on Monday by Siavonga Town Council Public Relations Officer Gwendolyn Mwanza Mchenga, the five coffins, food stuff and other logistics for the funeral were procured using the disaster component of the Constituency Development Fund.
The Local Authority also procured other food stuffs and provided transport from locally generated funds.
