AFTER taking some drugs and getting high, a 28 year old man of Lusaka’s Misisi compound was feeling on top of the world as voices started to speak to him and urging him to take his own life.

In his endeavor to commit suicide, Henry Mulenga managed to find a water tank in Makeni Villa of Kanyama, which he climbed with the intention of throwing down himself from the apex of a 50 metres tall water tank stand.

According to police investigations, Mulenga is alleged to have migrated from Kitwe to Lusaka and started living with a friend identified as Lukwesa in Misisi compound for some time.

However, he later made the streets his dwelling.

It is reported that Mulenga had yesterday taken some drugs which allegedly caused him to be ‘hearing’ multiple voices in his head, leading him to the tank where he attempted to commit suicide.

But he was spotted by members of the public who distracted him and called the police who arrived at the scene within time and managed to rescue him.

Zambia Police deputy spokesperson Danny Mwale confirmed the incident to Kalemba in a statement yesterday.

Mwale said Mulenga has since been taken to Kanyama level 1 hospital for treatment of some noticeable facial injuries.
