Court fines Dorcas Nachibona k18 for freedom statue protest

THE Lusaka magistrate court has ordered 28-year-old Dorcas Nachibona K18 for chaining herlsef at the Freedom Statue.
 
Failure by Dorcas to pay K18 will attract a One month custodia simple imprisonment.
 
Early, this week Police in Lusaka charged and arrested Dorcas for idle and disorderly conduct.
 
Police deputy spokesperson Danny Mwale informed the nation that after viewing the Closed-circuit Television (CCTV) at our Command Center, Dorcas was seen placing a placard at the Freedom Statue, chaining herself and hiding the keys in her pant.
 
Mwale explained that while seated, she was seen drinking from a bottle which seemed to be that of alcoholic beverage.
 
Police then charged Dorcas with the offence of Idle and Disorderly contrary to Section 178 (f ) of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.
