A Kasama football team, staff escape road traffic accident

Over 30 members of a football team in Kasama are nursing wounds while one suffered a broken arm after a canter they boarded overturned due to a ball joint dislocation.
 
According to a statement by Kasama Municipal Council Fire Brigade 35 passengers were on board the canter, all from Chipando Health Stars Football Team players and support staff who were coming from Nseluka and heading for Nkole Mfumu for a football match.
 
The accident happened yesterday around 15:09hrs along Mbala road at Mulambe Village near Kateshi tollgate involving a white Toyota Canter driven by 36 year – old Bernard Bwalya Kapele.
 
Kapele lost control of the vehicle which overturned after a front ball-joint dislocation
 
With the help of the fire brigade team in conjunction with the Zambia Police Traffic Officers and RTSA a man that was trapped and suffered a broken arm and was extricated using a hydraulic cutter/expander and a knife.
 
It is reported no fatalities were recorded at the scene but all passengers suffered multiple body injuries and were rushed to Kasama General Hospital.
