THERE can never be development where there is violence, says Vice-President Mutale Nalumango.

Addressing a rally at Waipas Ground in Luangwa, Vice-President Nalumango said she was glad that campaigns for the tomorrow’s mayoral elections in the district have been free of violence.
The Vice-President is in Luangwa to drum up support for UPND candidate Arthur Lungu.

“Hakainde Hichilema abwelesa M’tendere. Since the campaign started, there has been no violence…PF anali nandeo [PF was violent]. Because of the peace that Hakainde Hichilema has brought, there is no caderism. What used to happen under the PF regime was total thieving,” Vice-President Nalumango said.

She urged residents to show appreciation for what President Hichilema and the UPND have done to the country and Luangwa in particular by electing Lungu as council chairman.

Vice-President Nalumango said with a free education policy that has been re-introduced by the UPND government, children had more opportunities to pursue their goals in life.

She said she was beneficiary of the free education policy during the tenure of former president Kenneth Kaunda.

“I came from a very poor family but because of free education by president Kaunda, today I am Vice-President. This is the same way Hakainde and the UPND have brought free education. Now you can become whatever you want to become,” she said.

Vice-President Nalumango further sought to assure those left out of the recent recruitment programme in the teaching and health sectors that the government’s employment agenda was ongoing.

“We are still employing; we have not stopped…employment has not finished,” said the Vice-President.

She said the former ruling Patriotic Front would never return to power.
