Peace reigns in Kabushi without PF

DAYS after the Electoral Commission of Zambia rejected the nomination of Bowman Lusambo for the Kabushi Constituency parliamentary by-election, campaigns have taken off without the involvement of the violent PF NATO Forces who punctuated the last election with violence.
 
Last month, the Constitutional Court upheld a High Court judgment that nullified Lusambo’s election as Kabushi lawmaker citing violence and malpractice as the reasons.
 
So while Lusambo was being handcuffed for the electoral offences he is accused of committing in the August 2021 elections, candidates seeking to replace him were going to door-to-door canvassing votes.
 
UPND national youth chairman Gilbert Liswaniso is in Kabushi with an army of foot soldiers to ensure the ruling party candidate Bernard Kanengo goes to Parliament.
 
Liswaniso, who is currently on a door to door campaign trial following a road-show in the affected area, further claims that, “souls have been converted”, in apparent reference to opposition supporters.
 
“We led scores of residents; the youth, women and all in Kabushi Constituency in garnering support for our Parliamentary candidate in the September 15 by-election. We’re mingling as brothers and sisters, respecting each other’s divergent views, while many ‘souls’ are being converted to red, saying their vote is on Bernard Kanengo.
 
He continues: “The environment is peaceful, citizens are proud of the freedom they’re enjoying. Ndola’s Kabushi Constituency shall never be the same with Kanengo.”
