THE National Democratic Congress (NDC) has warned that anyone claiming to be its member who will decide to challenge the UPND ahead of the Kabushi and Kwacha parliamentary by-election will be disowned.
Speaking during a press briefing yesterday, George Sichula who is leader of the Alliance partner said the NDC would rally behind the UPND candidate in the forthcoming by-elections.
“We have two by elections on the Copperbelt and we want to put it very clear as National Democratic Congress that we will not field in any candidates. It is just reasonable enough that our colleagues in the UPND who petitioned these seats must field in candidates both in Kabushi and Kwacha Constituencies. We are here to make a declaration that anyone who will come in the NDC to field in a candidate, such a person must be disowned.
Sichula further said his party will write to the Electoral Commission of Zambia to state it position.
He said anyone with a contrary view over the two by elections should be treated as an imposter.
Sichula said the UPND petitioned the two seats thus it is prudent to allow them field in candidates.
