AS Zambia works towards becoming a transport and logistics hub in the region, Government has expressed interest in the attending global aviation conference to accelerate the country’s aspiration in transport business.
According to a statement released by first press secretary at Zambia’s High Commission in South Africa, Tamara Nyirenda, the country is scheduled to be part of 41st session of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Assembly in Canada which will have representation from various sections within the industry.
Speaking when he paid a courtesy call on Zambia’s Acting High Commissioner to South Africa Inonge Mwenya, Ministry of Transport and Logistics permanent secretary, Fredrick Mwalusaka said he was optimistic that Zambia’s attendance at such a high level meetings would accelerate the country’s aviation sector.
He said ICAO would help the country keep abreast with global trends within the highly regulated aviation industry.
And Mwenya reiterated the Mission’s commitment to continue playing its part to enhance ties between Zambia and South Africa and in various areas including aviation.
This year’s ICAO Assembly will be held from 27th September to 7th October 2022 in Montréal, Canada.
The ICAO Assembly is the International Civil Aviation organisation’s sovereign body with 193 member states and a large number of international organisations that regulate the aviation sector. The meeting is held once every three years.
