THE life of a teenage boy in Kasenengwa District of Eastern Province has come to an abrupt end after eating nshima laced with a love portion from 14-year old girlfriend.
It is reported that 17-year old Howard Banda, while herding cattle was served with nshima by his girlfriend but stopped his friend from partaking of the meal because it was only meant for him.
But as the day gave way to the evening, the two boys developed diarrhea and started vomiting.
Banda, who was severely hit was taken to Chipata General Hospital where he died on July 4, 2022 around 01:00 hours.
Zambia Police Deputy public Relations Officer, Danny Mwale confirmed that the 14 year old girlfriend and her grandmother have since been arrested in connection to death.
Mwale said the girlfriend’s grandmother aged 52 identified as Eliza Tembo is alleged to have supplied the love concoction to her granddaughter.
He disclosed that the police have opened an inquiry file in the matter to establish the actual cause of death.
And that the body of the deceased is in the hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
