POLICE in Lusaka have denied accusations of setting free a Rwandees teenager accused of defiling two minors.
This morning, social media users woke up to a video of a crying woman only identified as Jane saying her two daughters aged 8 and 10 respectively had been sexually assaulted by a 17-year old boy whom police had arrested but set free.
Jane appealed to the government and the women groups to help her get justice because according to her, police had showed little interest in prosecuting the matter.
She narrated that her two girls were lured into the clutches of the accused who, busking in the splendor of coins obtained from grocery shops, put the girls in a ruffle to win K10 for every round of sex.
But Zambia Police deputy spokesperson Danny Mwale confirmed the incident occurred on June 23, 2022 in Kabangwe area.
Mwale disclosed that unlike social media reports, the 17-year-old is still in police custody and was only transferred from Emmasdale to Ngwerere Police Station where the case was reported.
“The suspect was initially detained at Emmasdale Police Station and later transferred to Ngwerere Police Station where the case was reported,”
