Police in Chongwe have arrested 34-year-old man for allegedly defilinh a 14-year-old girl whom his wife employed to look after their baby.
The was employed by Brighton Mwiinga’s wife to help to help look after their 1-year old baby while she was at work.
Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said the victim’s mother reported the matter to tell him police Chalimbana station.
Mr Hamoonga said the victim was defiled on Wednesday.
“I can confirm that we recieved a report of defilement on Wednesday around 21:50 hours in which a mother on Chingwe reported on behalf of her daughter that she was defiled by Brighton Mwiinga of Ndeke East,” Mr Hamoonga said.
Mr Hamoonga said the suspect called the victim to his house and when she got there Mwiinga took her to his bedroom and had unlawful carnal knowledge of her.
He said the scene visit was conducted but the police were yet to get a statement from the victim because she has been mute.
The suspect has been arrested and charged with defilement.
The mother of the victim said in an interview that her daughter was employed to look after the neighbor’s one-year-old baby.
