Body of student arrives home 12 days after dying in India

THE remains of a Zambian aviation student who died in India have arrived in the country 12 days after his death.

Cheyo Keith Musukwa who was pursuing his studies at Lovely Professional University (LPU) in Punjab State, India, died June 8, two days after learning of his father’s death back in Zambia.

In confirming Musukwa’s repatriation, Zambia’s High Commissioner to India Judith Kapijimpanga said the body of the former student arrived in Zambia today aboard an Emirates aircraft.

Kapijimpanga thanked the deceased’s family for raising K60,000 as well as former Mines Minister Richard Musukwa who though not related to the grieving family contributed K22,000 and staff at Zambia High Commission in India added K20, 000 for embalming and transportation of the remains.

According to Kapijimpanga, Musukwa died at Johal Hospital on June 8, 2021 when he fell from his apartment.

The High Commissioner said the deceased was rushed to hospital where he was put on a ventilator but died a few hours later.

This is contained in a statement issued by First Secretary Press at Zambia High Commission in India Bangwe Naviley Chisenga.
