TRANSPARENCY International Zambia (TIZ) has demanded for the full independent investigation into the MoH’s dealings in order to root the systemic weaknesses that have allowed corruption.
Welcoming the dismissal of Ministry of Health permanent secretary administration Kakulubelwa Mulalelo, TIZ executive director Maurice Nyambe said the dismisal was enough to end the theft at the ministry.
In a statement yesterday, Nyambe said the firing of Dr Chitalu Chilufya and Mulalelo was a step in the right direction to uproot corruption.
“We believe that the problems at the MoH go beyond individuals and are systemic in nature. We therefore hope that the PS’s dismissal, which follows the dismissal of the Minister a few weeks ago forms part of the comprehensive response to addressing the wider systemic issues that are prevalent at the MoH,” said Nyambe.
“We therefore reiterate our call for a full independent investigation into the MoH’s dealings in order to root out the institutional and systemic weaknesses that have seemingly allowed corruption to take root in the MoH.”
