PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu says yesterday he addressed ruling Patriotic Front officials at SunSet Conference Hall in Mufulira under strict restrictions in line with the COVID-19 public health guidelines.
The Head of State said he called for discipline, hardwork and unity in the ruling Party.
President Lungu is on the Copperbelt on a three-day working visit.
In a Facebook posting last evening, President Lungu said he inspected several developmental projects and engaged local mining stakeholders, who included the miners in Kitwe and Mufulira here on the Copperbelt Province also under strict adherence to the COVID-19 public health guidelines.
He said he assured stakeholders on the Copperbelt Province that no mine will be closed.
“My Government will always protect jobs and the interest of workers in the mining sector. I also urged management and the union at Mopani Copper Mines to work together,” President Lungu stated.
President Lungu is this morning expected to attend church service at the Kitwe Seventh Day Adventist Church.
