AFTER checking in together at a Lodge in Kitwe, what was supposed to be a romantic and cosy outing for the couple has ended in the gruesome death of a 17-year-old girl, apparently knifed several times by her lover.
Police spokesperson Esther Mwaata Katongo has confirmed the Nkana East incident while withholding the identities of the couple.
Katongo tells #Kalemba that the couple is said to have booked a room at the lodge around 15:30 hours and they went in together.
However, after a few minutes, a receptionist heard a woman screaming whilst banging the door of the same room.
“When she rushed to check on what was happening, a naked female opened the door and later fell facedown and had multiple stab wounds on her back,” Katongo stated.
She said Police officers who went to the scene found a body of the female victim in a pool of blood outside the room.
“When they checked inside the room, they found an unknown male adult also naked and was laying face down in a pool of blood in the bathroom,” she revealed.
Katongo explained that the girl was in an unconscious state while the man was still conscious at the time.
“Both were rushed to the Kitwe Teaching Hospital where the male adult is receiving medical attention in the ICU while the female victim was pronounced dead,” she said.
“We have withheld the name of the female victim was later identified but is reported to be a pupil who was in Kitwe’s Zambia Railways Compound on holiday visiting her relatives,” added Katongo.
