Police charge Kang’ombe with abduction, assault

POLICE in Muchinga Province have charged Sesheke Constituency Member of Parliament Romeo Kang’ombe with abduction and assault.

Kang’ombe is detained in police custody and is expected to appear n court on Tuesday, according to Police spokesperson Esther Mwaata Katongo.

Further, Police in Muchinga Province have opened an inquiry file in the misconduct of cadres they suspect to be Patriotic Front and UPND which recently happened in Mpika District.

“Some officials from both political parties have been summoned to report themselves to the Provincial Headquarters in Chinsali District and have been advised to avoid being accompanied by people who have not been summoned as police will not tolerate any public misconduct with a view of disturbing the peace,” Katongo stated.

“The Provincial Police Commissioner, Engineer Joel Njase has directed all officers in his Province to be fair and firm in the enforcement of the law,” she added.

Katongo said  Commissioner has further warned those abusing social media and engaging in harmful and criminal propaganda that it is a question of time before they start accounting for their criminal acts adding that Zambians  only have one country hence any act with potential to distabilise the peace shall not be tolerated.
