A NEW Educational channel initiated by the Ministry of General Education has started showing on the Zambia National Broadcasting Cooperation (ZNBC).
The channel is meant to benefit secondary school learners.
Schools have been closed since early last month in the wake of the Coronavirus and the COVID-19 which has infected close to two million people and killed over 100,000 globally.
At a briefing at the ministry information and broadcasting services in Lusaka Wednesday, minister of general education David Mabumba said his ministry had partnered with (ZNBC) to continue teaching learners through a dedicated channel.
The minister said the channel would become operational today, Monday, April 13 and would run 07:30 hours to 20:00 hours daily.
“To begin with, the channel will in the initial stage focus on secondary education as we develop materials for early childhood education primary as well as other education levels and subjects. The channel will also look at issues affecting the education sector, Mabumba said.
He appealed to learners to take advantage of the opportunity to take advantage to make use of the materials going to their homes through television and radio channels.
“You now have locally produced educational programmes done by Zambian teachers under the revised curriculum to help your studies,” he said.
