POLICE in Northern Province have suddenly
cancelled the campaign programs for UPND Leader Hakainde Hichilema in the ongoing campaigns for the Chilubi parliamentary by-election.
Last week, police in the region approved a three-day campaign schedule allowing Hichilema to conduct campaigns on the island from yesterday to tomorrow.
But police announced a change of heart yesterday.
Northern Province Police Commissioner, Richard Mweene has been quoted by Radio Phoenix News saying the decision was made in order to prevent violent clashes that have characterized previous elections between rival parties especially that the head of state is also in the area.
