ZAMBEZI Portland Cement has donated assorted hygiene items worth K100, 000 to the Copperbelt Provincial administration.

Speaking when he presented the assorted items Zambezi Portland Chief Executive Officer Gomeli Litana observed the need to embrace hygiene and ensure that it becomes part of the way of life especially during the post-COVID19 era.

Litana said the involvement of the private sector in the crusade against COVID19 cannot be over emphasised.

“We are aware of the numerous responsibilities that the government has and, therefore, the involvement of the private sector in the crusade against COVID19 cannot be over emphasised. So these materials have been procured at a total cost of K100, 000.

“It is our sincere hope that our donation will make a difference in the promotion of hygiene. Our humble submission is that hygiene should not only be emphasised during the coronavirus period, but should be embraced as a way of life for all community members during the post-COVID19 era.”

Receiving the donations Copperbelt Minister Japhen Mwakalombe said there is need to continue sensitizing the people on COVID19.

“The police on the Copperbelt should ensure that people follow the laws as guided in the SI for COVID19. We need to protect our citizens. We are also gappy that TDRC has been opened for laboratory testing of COVID19. The lives of the people should be protected. This is the right time when the government has put in place everything. This support is not just material but we see life being protected here,” Mwakalombe said.

“When you donate to protect life, we say you should be emulated by the private sector. The longer we delay to stop COVID19, the more the businesses will be affected.”

Ndola Central Member of Parliament Emmanuel Mulenga was among the guests who witnessed handover ceremony.
