IN a world where a single tweet or Facebook post can either land you a dream job or get you fired before you have even shown up for the interview, some people or let me just say, most of my fellow Gen-Z’s seem to forget that the internet has a long memory.

It’s not just random strangers scrolling through your posts anymore. Employers, schools and potential business partners are all watching.

Just one careless comment or heated reply, you are gone and opportunities vanish in the blink of an eye.

It’s becoming a disturbingly common story that when people lose out on jobs or deals, their first instinct is to blame the devil, bad luck or their village people, forgetting that their online space is horrible.

In line with the above, Gospel music sensation Chileshe Bwalya says making careless comments on social media has highlighted how some people jobs, education and business opportunities.

Bwalya took to her Facebook page to remind her audience that not every misfortune is due to external forces like the devil, their village people or the government.

In her message, she stressed that individuals should take responsibility for their actions, particularly online, where hurtful or foolish comments can be highlighted and shared by others.

“People do their due diligence and your tuma insults are highlighted especially when others like them and cheer on the foolery. My fellow Zambians remember when a foreigner came and said we are our own enemies? He did not lie. Twafweni Tata (God help us),” wrote the Gospel singer.
